The opportunity for generating carbon dioxide equivalent emission reduction credits arises from the quantification of reductions in carbon dioxide equivalent emissions resulting from the implementation of low retention hydroelectric generation facility. The emission reductions are based on the generation of an equivalent quantity of electricity from either grid connected or off-grid facilities as provided by the electricity displacement factor for Alberta.
