GrowTEC Biogas Offset Project
The opportunity for generating carbon offsets with this project arises from the direct greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reductions resulting from utilizing source separated organics, agricultural waste and other organic residues from food processing operations at a biogas facility for the production of methane—or biogas—as a biological replacement of
natural gas. Biogas produced at the plant will be processed through a cogeneration unit in order to generate electricity to be sold as a source of
renewable energy to the Alberta grid.
